Austrian and Czech police officers searched together for a dangerous offender

Search for a dangerous offender who escaped from a police escort on the Czech-Austrian border. This, was the assignment of an international police exercise, which was attended by about 150 Czech and Austrian police officers in Boří les on Tuesday morning. A helicopter with thermal imaging and police dog handlers were also deployed to the event.

On the Czech side, a special law enforcement unit from Brno took part in the exercise, while the Austrian side was represented by a special WEGA unit from Vienna. “We have known each other with colleagues from the Vienna unit WEGA for a long time, but we practiced together for the first time. The communication was very good and I consider the work of both units to be very professional. The searching operation took place at area of 1,5×2 kilometres. Detained persons are often transferred here between the Czech and Austrian police…” Major Karel Molák, commander of the special law enforcement unit, praised the cooperation. WEGA Commander-in-Chief Colonel Ernst Albrecht was also pleased with the joint training: “The exercise showed that our cooperation can work very well. The exercise was designed in way that not everything worked as it should, so we had to deal with unexpected situations…
